Early army (Heer) signals officer crusher cap ‘knautschmütze’

Description

Interesting and heavy worn infantry/signals crusher cap for officers. Beautiful example with original, but restored, insignia up front.  Lemon yellow Nachrichten piping surrounds the cap, this piping used to be white for infantry but was periodicly dyed into yellow when this man changed branches, a common practice we sometimes obserse with visor caps. There are no major damages or moth holes present. The visor cap shows some small period reinforcements on the edges. The leather sweatband inside is completly gone, and periodicly replaced by a partial cloth one. Typical early lining in tan cotton. The visor shows heavy wear but still will look great on display! *We used a hat spanner for the pictures.
