UNTOUCHED – M35 blue colored Luftwaffe helmet with double decals. The Luftwaffe eagle is the desirable first pattern model often referred to as the ‘Droop Tail’ or ‘Snake Leg’ variant, typical for this manufacturer. Both decals are present and show modest wear. The helmet is complete with its early single band aluminum liner (dated 1937). The liner is complete with a full length draw string. The leather itself feels a bit dry but remains strong and complete. The original early chin strap with aluminum buckle remains present and is period shortened for more comfort of the soldier. The helmet was once camouflaged in white wash for winter use, and remains of this chalk are still visible around the ventilation holes and rivets. This white was was made out of chalk powder, so that it could easily be removed once the winter was over. These left over pieces around the typical area’s (vent holes etc.) could be observed with many period helmets who also untertook this process. Maker marked shell by ET size 64, lot number 3324. A stunning untouched M35 Luftwaffe double decal in prestine condition!
