Description
Early WW1 reissued M16 helmet, started in the early 30’s as an apple green double decal example. With the 1940 regulations the glossy apple green paint and national tricolor shield was over painted using thick field green paint, only leaving the army decal visible. The ghost of the tri color shield remains hidden under the thick paint. The helmet is complete with its original reinforced aluminum liner. The leather is perfect and remains in nearly unworn condition. It still has its full length draw string and early chin strap present. The chin strap is maker marked and dated 1940. Has a size dome stamp ’64’, something I often observe in these transitional shells. One of the best M16 reissued helmets I have ever owned – from my personal collection.
