M35 Polizei double decal ‘apple-green’ USA veteran souvenir steel helmet SE64

Beautiful and complete untouched – USA GI captured – M35 Police double decal steel helmet. The exterior color is classic early ‘apple-green’. Both decals remain intact and show nice ageing and details, this used to be an army double decal helmet that was reissued to the police, if you look closely you will see an army decal and tri-color shield underneath. Aluminum liner sits firmly in place and the split pins remain untoched. The liner band is dated 1940. The special thing would be the decal on the front, being a rarely seen late war ‘Green Luftwaffe eagle‘ that is often found loose in USA GI hauls, this decal was applied by the American soldier in 1945, most likely to give it an extra ‘nazi’ captured look. Maker marked by SE, size 64. Lot number 20704. A truely rare and very well preserved double decal Police helmet!
