M40 army (Heer) single decal steel helmet SE64

Description

Standard M40 pattern army steel helmet. Started as a single decal army example and only the decal was painted over to comply to the new ‘no decal’ rules in 1943. A thick struck of paint was applied only on the decal, something we do not see every day, as many collector ‘dug-out’ those decals post war. With this particular helmet, the paint is still present and you can see the eagle peaking trough at some point. Complete with original liner and split pins, but look replaced at one point. Liner is complete with draw string and is size marked 57. leather feels dry. Shell markings SE64 – 1286.
