Description
Genuine and very hard to find BSP visor in light worn condition. I located this visor many years ago in Germany, were it was stripped of its insignia. After a long search I managed to find not only the correct cocarde, but also the correct eagle to match with this beautiful cap. It now complete again and it has a very nice look, still retaining its saddle shape. Interior shows normal wear, sweatband is present and a little bit damaged. Celluloid diamond is gone so no way to determine the manufacturer. This is a very unique and seldom seen cap, missing in many headgear collections!
The BSP was a special police organization (Sonderpolizei) completely subordinated to the Deutsche Reichsbahn. It was not dependent on Ordnungspolizei. During World War II most of the BSP personnel were mobilized and used as a permanent railway security force in the occupied Eastern Europe. As a replacement within Germany, the SS-Bahnschutz, a railway security force under the SS was founded in 1944.
