Description

NSKK-Transportstandarte Speer steel reissued M42 helmet with single decal. Helmet started as a Luftwaffe M40 helmet and was reissued by the NSKK ‘Speer’ unit. The steel helmet is covered in blue/grey paint and on the left side the NSKK eagle with the “NSKK” lettering removed is visible. Underneath the Speer decal, the Luftwaffe decal is still visible. The helmet shell is stamped ET66 on the inside, with lot number “1645” on the back. Complete with the original liner and the original chin strap (maker marked and dated 1940). Leather is soft and in good condition, one tongue is damaged. The helmet is still uncleaned and in untouched original condition. There are not more then 10 of these helmets known worldwide.

The Speer Transport Corps was a sub-organization of the NSKK under Albert Speer from 1944. At its peak in November 1942 it had almost 50,000 vehicles and around 70,000 men. From August 1939, the focus was primarily on the transport of building materials for the armaments structures and Luftwaffe buildings taken over by the Speer construction staff. In May 1940, the association was renamed NSKK-Transportstandarte Speer and was then tasked with delivering all supplies for all Luftwaffe front-line units. At the start of the Russian campaign in June 1941, the standard, which had now grown to three regiments, was renamed the NSKK Speer Transport Brigade. In contrast to the Todt organization, the Speer transport brigade was organized according to military principles and divided into regiments, departments, companies and platoons. Over time it grew to a total of 10 NSKK motor vehicle transport regiments (Speer). Seven regiments (Nos. 1–6 and 10) carried ammunition for the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe. The members of the Speer Transport Brigade wore the gray-blue uniform of the Luftwaffe or the brown uniform of the Speer construction staff.
