Description

Mid-war constructed genuine and very nice Waffen-SS visor, having white piping for infantry. The cap is a original SS constructed cap with black band around the middle. The cap is complete with an original set of SS cap insignia, being a skull and eagle, both executed in Cupal. They look to have the desgin from Deschler. The cap is executed on the exterior in rough green wool, typical for SS visor caps. There is a small damage in the rear. The cap Shows a nice saddle shape. Interior shows no maker mark, something more often observed with SS caps. Artifical leather sweat band, low quality and therefor I intend to say it has been made around 1943. The chin strap is a normal Wehrmacht type, not the SS one with the buckle in the middle. I was thinking of replacing it but it looks to me that the cap always had this chin strap, based on the stress markings on the black cloth band. These straps were worn by SS members, just not as often but photograpic evidence is there. The first five pictures were taken with a hat spanner, you will notice the front comes a bit down when not used (see other pictures). A beautiful light worn SS visor!
