Description
This is a genuine Third Reich Heinrich Hoffmann photo book called Hitler Abseits vom Alltag (Hitler, His Private, Daily Life). This original softcover example measures 25cm x 18cm and has 96 pages containing 100 photos of Adolf Hitler in his surroundings at the Berghof on the Obersalzberg above Berchtesgaden and in other venues. The book has its original paper cover, but it torn on the seam.
With dozens and dozens of spectacular full-page and half-page photos, this 1937 edition (51-70,000 printing run) Zeitgeschichte-Verlag (Berlin) book presents Hitler in a way the world had never seen him before: at ease in his mountain home, with children and adults, reading, talking, relaxing, signing autographs and picnicking. There are many interior and exterior shots of the Berghof. Hitler is seen traveling by train, by car and by air, in the Harz mountains, returning to Landsberg Prison, with Albert Speer, Professor Gall, Baldur von Schirach, Martin Bormann, Dr. Joseph Goebbels, sculptor Josef Thorak, at the grave or Carin Göring, with Göring and his wife Emmy at Carinhall on the Schorfheide, and in general the perfect picture of contentment.
