Army (Heer) Gebirgsjäger enlisted visor cap named and unit marked GJR 98

Description

Hard to find grass green enlisted-style pre war constructed visor cap for a Gebirgsjäger (mountain trooper). Complete with it’s original insignia on the front of the cap, including the rare Edelweiss badge. The cap is light worn and shows a unit tag inside; Gefreiter Merten Peter, 5th Stabskompanie of Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 98. The cap remains void of other markings. Front chin strap is maker marked and dated 1934. Beautiful cap from a rare branch!
