Early army (Heer) transport officer crusher cap ‘knautschmütze’ by Jean Drescher

Interesting and worn crusher cap for an officer that started as a white piped infantry cap. During the war this officer was transfer to a Nachschub (Transport) unit, so his piping got colored into light blue. This proces could be observed with many period caps and is certainly not and exception.  Beautiful example with period applied early insignia up front (worth a small fortune on their own today). Both insignia are well sunk into the cap and have a matching patina. the cap shows multiple moth damages all pictured. The leather sweatband inside is complete and the sweat diamond is still 90% present. The maker mark of Jean Drescher, Schweinfurt am Mainz, Kesslergasse 8-12 is still clearly visible. The visor has a very attractive shape and would look good on any combat display. Size +-56. Hard to find crusher cap in an even harder to find branch color!
