From my personal collection: Knights cross of the iron cross with matching oak leafs by Rudolf Souval, Wien. Three piece construction with magnetic iron core. Early post-war Souval manufacturing. Magnetic core in fantastic condition with almost paint intact. Both cross and oak leafs marked 800. Comes with original matching, light worn ribbon. A very nice later post war Souval set.

These crosses were produced after 1945 by the Souval company. It was intended for German veterans to re-buy a cross in case theirs was lost or stolen. These crosses were still worn at veteran meetings, hence the conclusion, that even if it comes from the veteran itself, he might have bought it himself after the war as a second piece to wear.
