Description
Interesting Luftwaffe dog tag ‘Erkennungsmarke’ with number 53501 referring to first company of Aufklärungsgruppe 121 (1.(F) Aufkl.Gruppe 121). The dog tag itself has been cut out as a luftwaffe rank gul by the pilot at that time – a nice ‘extra touch’. After a brief search this is the unit history;
1939 (Poland Campaign) Reconnaissance for Luft Flotte 1 (Do 17) over northern Poland.
May 1940 in the west with Air Fleet 2 for IV. Flieger-Corps over Belgium and northern France.
Moved to Norway for the “Battle of Britain”. Reconnaissance about sea and England (Ju 88).
Moved to Italy with the X. Flieger-Korps. 1941 – 1943 Reconnaissance over the Mediterranean and Africa for the As a result, the occupation of Tunisia was recognized in good time and countermeasures were initiated.
At the end of 1943, transferred to Air Fleet 3 in the West. Converted to Me 410 in June 1944.
