Description

Very nice transitional M17 (Austrian-pattern M16) WW1 steel helmet that was reissued in WW2. This typical apple green configuration with dark green split pins is textbook for these type of helmets as they were produced in the beginning of the war in 1940. Both decals remain in very good condition. The eagle decal is a typical variant having green lines instead of black that we always encounter on these reissued M17 helmets. Presumably these decals were produced by Methner and Burger. The liner is already a steel band type, the leather itself is complete and supple. The dome and liner both show a 57 size mark. It retains its genuine draw string. The split pins remain straight. Helmet shell is marked by ET66. A very desirable M17 double decal helmet!
