M34 Army (Heer) overseas cap by Gebr. Mergelsberg 1938

Description

Stunning early M34 enlisted overseas cap ‘Schiffchen’ that was period upgraded to an officer example. The wool cap shows minimal use and the wool is soft and does not show wear. Complete with original applied early M33 pattern grey backed national insignia on the front. The red artillery soutache replaced a previous yellow one, as this officer must have been transferred from branche. The cap started as an enlisted example that was upgraded with a white braided tresse, hand applied on the edges of the cap. The cap is maker marked by Gebr. Mergelsberg, Linnich, dated 1938 and size marked 59 (large!). A beautiful well preserved cap!!
