M35 Heer ex-double decal winter camouflage ‘overpaint’ steel helmet ET64

Description

Early produced M35 army steel helmet in good condition. The helmet started as an apple green coated double decal helmet in +- 1938 but was overpainted with field green paint due regulations most likely in 1940 before the invasion of Western Europe. Therefore the party decal has been covered. The eagle decal on the left side was left open and shows nice aging and patina. The helmet received multiple layers of paint such as white for winter and sand mixed green paint as field camouflage. Inside the helmet an alumium liner is restored to the helmet and the band is dated 1940, the split pins are straight. The leather is supple and shows normal wear, matching with the helmet. The chin strap is a replica that matches the helmet well. Normal sized shell by ET, size 64, lot number: 3886.
