M35 Waffen-SS single decal KIA steel helmet shell

Description

Well preserved ‘killed-in-action’ M35 Waffen-SS combat helmet shell. Started as a double decal SS helmet, but swastika rune was removed per regulations in 1940 and later on the helmet was overpainted in camouflaged rough green paint covering also the SS decal. With time and wear at the front parts of the SS decal got exposed again, and are clearly visible today. The helmet shows multiple bullet holes and the hole on top would be from a grave marker in my opinion. Maker mark and lot number are not visible anymore. Shell looks like a 62 size.
