Description
Not often I encounter a rarely seen M40 (instead of more common M35) reissued helmet. This helmet was brought back to the factory during the war to be refurbished, receiving a new layer of paint, decal and liner. The liner band is dated 1943 so that gives us an idea about the issue date. The helmet is an honest single decal army example that shows normal wear. The decal is a textbook example that I like to see on reissued helmets, being produced by Methner and Burger (Grey lined eagle). The helmet is complete with its original installed liner. The split pins remain untouched. The leather itself is in good condition and is marked with a ’55’ size stamp. The draw string is a period shoestring used as replacement. The shell markings are nearly impossible to read because of the newly applied coating. Yet I think I see Q62 on the side and 1543 in the rear. A great untouched M40 single decal steel helmet!
