Straight from the woodwork – untouched – as found condition K98 bayonet in light worn condition. The bayonet is a ‘matching’ example with serial numbers on both scabbard and blade the same; 8606 c and maker marked 42 crs (Paul Weyersberg, Solingen 1942). The scabbard has been painted black, as seen with many period pieces, to avoid reflection. The blade remains in stunning condition nearly complete with all of its blue finish intact. The leather frog is solid and supple, and shows a maker mark on the reverse, dated 1941. The original parade ‘portepee’ is present and looks to have been there for 80 years or more!
