Description
Straight out of the woodwork from the family; A WW2-pattern Russian winter jacket ‘Telogreika’ made in 1948. It is a known story these were worn by German POW in the camps in Russia. This example, already having captured blue Luftwaffe buttons was worn by SS-Hauptsturmführer Fritz Vogel. This jacket along with his trousers and boots came directly from the family – I picked it up myself in Germany. I had acces to all his documents and photo albums, some of these, I was allowed to photograph to document this nice jacket. Fritz Vogel joined the SS in 1934 and made his way to the SS-Junkerschule Bad Tölz (SS officer school) where he graduated in 1941 as an officer. He then send his parents his LAH NCO shoulder board as a present, since he was no longer an NCO. Fritz survived the war and was appointed to get the knight cross at the end of the war, but with the war ending, he never officially received it. It was amazing to see all his post-war pictures of the gatherings he went to, I added some of these pictures as well in the slideshow. A very interesting jacket with an even more interesting history. The documents, shoulder boards and his SS dagger are still with relatives from the family today.
