Waffen-SS collar tab intended for a member within the ’22. SS-Freiwilligen-Kavallerie-Division “Maria Theresia” (Hungarian).’. As with other foreign volunteer units, the Germans devised and produced special insignia intended for these soldiers. The collar tab is showing an embroidered Edelweiss flower in silver/grey thread on black wool. The collar tab is having a nice light-brown, colored ‘buckram’ backing. The collar-tab originates almost certainly from the SS clothing department at the Dachau KZ when liberated in 1945. This collar tab was taken as a souvernir by a US GI. Tab remains is good condition, note a small moth hole on the exterior.
