Description
Straight from USA, a very nice untouched M1 helmet in good condition. The shell is complete with its chin strap and has a lot number stamped in the interior. The curved brim and oval seams are typical for the manufacturer of McCord. Liner is in very good condition and is maker marked by with the firm logo of MSA. This “high pressure” manufactured M-1 helmet liner is identified by an embossed “MSA” in the crown. Mine Safety Appliance started M-1 helmet liner delivery to the US Army in September 1942. They produced approximately between 2,000,000 – 4,000,000 M-1 helmet liners and discontinued production around August 17, 1945 when the war ended. The liner is complete with its chin strap. Interesting to see is the decals applied on the liner, the A in the star is from the Sixt Army and underneath is the rank insignia for a Captain. Beautiful helmet ca. 1945.
