Beautiful M1 helmet in light worn condition. Classic early war McCord made steel helmet, complete with chin straps. Front seam and fixed bales. Named in pencil on the inner front to Captain King. Marked with heating number ‘628A’. The front shows a pair of period painted Captain stripes. Liner made by MSA Mine Safety Appliance in Pittsburgh. This “high pressure” manufactured M-1 helmet liner is identified by an embossed “MSA” in the crown. Mine Safety Appliance started M-1 helmet liner delivery to the US Army in September 1942. They produced approximately between 2,000,000 – 4,000,000 M-1 helmet liners and discontinued production around August 17, 1945 when the war ended. The liner is complete with its (broken) chin strap. A matching pair of Captain stripes are also painted on the liner. A very nice untouched, genuine and complete US WW2 officer steel helmet!
